Best time to post on Vinted: what's true and what's a myth

By Revendor8 min read

The best time to post on Vinted is when your buyers are online: in practice, weekday evenings (between 6pm and 10pm) and Sundays. No magic hour has been proven. What Vinted does confirm is that upload date counts in the ranking. Posting at the right time gives you a boost, not a guaranteed sale.

You will see what can be checked, what comes from sellers' gut feeling, and a simple method to find your own time slots from your own numbers.

Does posting time really matter on Vinted?

Yes, but indirectly. Vinted neither penalises nor rewards a specific time. It rewards a listing's freshness and the interest it attracts.

According to Vinted's help page on content recommendations, ranking in the feed and in search takes into account, among other things, the upload date, the number of interactions, the item's price and condition, and its relevance to the buyer's profile.

Two simple consequences follow.

  • A recent listing is placed better than an older one, all else being equal.
  • A listing that quickly gets views, clicks and favourites holds its place better.

If you post at 3am, your listing is "new" while almost nobody is looking. By the time buyers arrive, more recent listings have jumped ahead. If you post at 8pm, your freshness coincides with the rush, and the first interactions arrive quickly. That is the whole mechanism. Nothing mystical.

Which days and times should you post on Vinted?

The safest answer: weekday evenings and late Sunday afternoon into the evening. Those are the times when most people have free time in front of their phones.

Vinted doesn't publish official audience statistics by hour. So the slots below come from common sense (working hours, commutes, evenings) and experience shared between sellers. Treat them as a starting point to test, not a rule.

Time slots, from safest to most doubtful

Time slotWhy it can workLevel of certainty
Weekday evenings (6pm to 10pm)End of the day, lots of screen timeSolid common sense
Sunday afternoon and eveningFree day, lots of browsingSolid common sense
Lunch break (12pm to 2pm)Short browsing on mobilePlausible, variable
Morning commute (7am to 9am)Browsing on public transportVaries with your audience
Night (1am to 6am)Almost nobody onlineAvoid
"7:12pm on the dot" or any other magic hourNo known mechanismMyth

What about Friday evening or Saturday?

That is less certain. Lots of people go out, others stay in. Some sellers find Saturday quiet, others don't. It is exactly the kind of question only your own numbers can settle.

Does it depend on what I sell?

Yes. A mum looking for kidswear doesn't browse at the same times as a student hunting for a vintage jacket. If your audience is very specific, so is your time slot. Hence the method below.

What are the myths about posting times on Vinted?

Three ideas get passed around a lot. None is confirmed by Vinted.

"There is a magic hour." No public data shows it. The ranking takes the upload date into account, not a precise minute. A "magic" hour spotted by one seller is often a coincidence: a great listing posted that day, a very popular item, a favourable season.

"You should post everything at once." Posting 20 listings in 5 minutes means 20 listings ageing at the same time. Spreading your listings across the week gives you several windows of freshness instead of just one.

"A listing that hasn't sold in 48 hours is dead." It has lost its freshness, not its value. An older listing can still sell if it is well titled, well priced and found in search. The date doesn't explain everything.

How do you find your best time slot in two weeks?

All you need is a table and two weeks. The idea: post comparable items at different times, then look at what each slot brings in views and favourites in the first 24 hours.

Test your posting time slots

  1. 1

Choose 3 slots to compare, for example 12:30pm, 6:30pm and 9pm.

  2. 2

For 14 days, post 2 to 3 items per slot, of the same type and price range.

  3. 3

For each listing, note the posting time, then the number of views and favourites 24 hours later.

  4. 4

After 14 days, work out the average favourites per listing for each slot.

  5. 5

Keep the winning slot and test a new challenger against it the following month.

Example, with made-up numbers to illustrate the calculation. You post 8 listings at 12:30pm, 8 at 6:30pm and 8 at 9pm. After 24 hours, you count 14 favourites in total for the lunchtime slot, 22 for 6:30pm and 31 for 9pm. The averages come out at 1.75, 2.75 and 3.9 favourites per listing. You have your answer, for your own audience.

Two precautions so the test means something:

  • Compare comparable listings. A €60 designer bag against a €4 T-shirt measures nothing.
  • Keep your photos and titles at the same level of care. A good title often matters more than the time.

The first step is small: this evening, note the time of your next three listings. That's all.

What should you do with listings that have already lost their freshness?

Posting time only plays a part at the moment of upload. After that, your listing sinks. To give it a new window of visibility, you need to repost it or pay for a Bump.

Working out the cost of doing nothing is simple. If you have 80 listings live and repost some of them by hand every day, allow about 30 seconds per listing to delete, recreate and check. For 40 listings a day, that is 20 minutes. Over a month, nearly 10 hours. And if you stop, your older listings sink into the catalogue while other people's rise.

Be careful with the method: Vinted only allows one listing per item, according to its catalogue rules. Reposting means replacing the old listing, never creating a second one alongside it. We cover the pace and the clean method in our guide on when to repost your items on Vinted.

If you sell 5 items a month, you don't need a tool: reposting by hand two evenings a week is plenty. Beyond a few dozen listings, the time spent becomes the real cost.

Reposting every evening at the right time is easy with 10 listings and impossible to keep up with 100. That is exactly the task Revendor runs in the background, in the time slots you choose.

How should you organise your posting week?

Spread your uploads over several evenings rather than one block. You multiply the moments when one of your listings is fresh just as buyers are looking.

An example pace for someone listing 15 new items a week:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 3 items each around 7pm.
  • Sunday: 6 items between 5pm and 8pm.
  • Other evenings: no new listings, but replying to messages and offers.

This pace has another advantage: you answer the first messages while the listing is still visible. A buyer who asks a question in the evening and gets an answer within the hour buys more readily than one who waits until the next day.

If you want to fit all this into a fixed amount of time, our 20-minute routine gives a ready-made order of tasks.

Does the season matter more than the time?

Often, yes. Posting a coat at 8pm in July is still less effective than posting it at midday in October. The time optimises a listing; the season decides whether anyone is looking for it.

Keep this order in mind: an item in demand, well photographed, at the right price, in the right season, and only then the right time slot. The time is the last setting, not the first.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best time to post on Vinted?

No precise time has been proven. Weekday evenings, between 6pm and 10pm, and late Sunday afternoon into the evening are the safest slots because lots of people are online. The best approach is still to test two or three slots on your own listings.

What is the best day to post on Vinted?

Sunday is often mentioned by sellers, which fits with a free day. But your audience matters more than the day. Post regularly over several evenings in the week rather than everything on Sunday.

Is posting at night a bad idea?

Yes, in most cases. Your listing is fresh while few people are looking, then it gets overtaken by more recent listings when the traffic comes back.

Does Vinted favour new listings?

Yes. According to Vinted's help centre, upload date is one of the ranking criteria, alongside interactions, price, condition and relevance. A recent listing therefore starts with an advantage.

Should you post all your listings at the same time?

No. Spreading your listings out gives you several windows of visibility. Posting 20 items at once makes them age together.

How long does a Vinted listing stay visible?

Vinted doesn't give a duration. Visibility drops as more recent listings arrive, faster in very crowded categories. Watch your views: when they flatten, that is the signal to act.
