How to delete and relist on Vinted: the safe way to do it

By Revendor7 min read

To relist an item on Vinted, delete the old listing first, then recreate it with the same photos and a reworked title. Never have both live at the same time: Vinted only allows one listing per item. Relisting gives it fresh life but wipes the favourites. Editing the listing keeps the favourites but doesn't push it up.

You will see when to choose each option, the step-by-step method, and the mistakes that can get a listing hidden or your account restricted.

Why delete and relist a Vinted listing?

Because the upload date counts in the ranking. According to Vinted's help page on recommendations, the feed and search take into account the upload date, interactions, price, condition and relevance.

An old listing has lost the advantage of being new. By relisting it, you get a listing that is new in the system's eyes, with a new date. It is the only free way to get that freshness back. The other, paid, way is a Bump.

Edit, relist or Bump: which should you choose?

Each option solves a different problem. Choose based on what is holding the sale back.

The decision rule comes down to three questions:

  1. Does the listing have favourites? Don't delete it. Instead, send an offer to the interested members, or lower the price slightly: Vinted can alert members who have the item in their favourites when its price drops, according to its page on notifications.
  2. Is the listing less than two weeks old? Edit what isn't working (price, title, first photo). It keeps its freshness.
  3. Is the listing old and without favourites? That is the right candidate for relisting.

Vinted doesn't document the effect of a simple edit on ranking. Many sellers believe it doesn't push the listing up. If in doubt, don't count on it.

How do you relist a Vinted item properly?

Order matters. Delete first, relist second, without ever having two listings of the same item live.

Relist an item in 6 steps

  1. 1

Save the listing's photos to your phone or computer (or keep the originals).

  2. 2

Copy the title, description, size, brand, condition and price into a note.

  3. 3

Delete the old listing from your wardrobe.

  4. 4

Create a new listing with the same information, changing the order of the photos or improving the title.

  5. 5

Check the category and size: a mistake here makes you disappear from filtered searches.

  6. 6

Post in the evening, when buyers are online.

A few useful details, taken from Vinted's help page on managing listings:

  • You can't hide or delete a listing while it is going through its automatic check. This usually takes a few seconds, but can sometimes take longer.
  • A sold item can only be deleted once the transaction is fully completed.

Should you change the photos every time you relist?

Not necessarily, but it is a good chance to improve your first photo. That is what gets the click. If the listing hasn't sold, there is a good chance the problem lies there, in the price or in the title.

What are the risks of duplicates and restrictions?

The main risk is having two listings of the same item live. Vinted's catalogue rules are clear: only one listing per item is allowed, and listing an unavailable or already sold item is prohibited.

The same rules say that a non-compliant listing can be hidden or deleted, and that repeated breaches can lead to a temporary or permanent account block.

The mistakes that cause trouble:

  • Relisting before deleting: for a few minutes, or a few days if you forget, the item exists twice.
  • Posting the same item several times "to be seen more": that is exactly what the rule prohibits.
  • Relisting an item already sold elsewhere: it is then unavailable, which is prohibited.
  • Relisting everything at once, every day: Vinted doesn't publish a threshold, but a very mechanical pace across hundreds of listings can attract moderation's attention. A steady, reasonable pace is better.

If your account is already restricted, start by reading our guide on blocked or restricted Vinted accounts before relisting anything.

How long does relisting by hand take?

Allow 1 to 2 minutes per listing to save, delete, recreate and check. It sounds like little. On a medium-sized wardrobe, it becomes a real burden.

A worked example:

  • 100 listings live, which you want to relist once every two weeks.
  • That is around 50 relists a week.
  • At 1.5 minutes each, that is 75 minutes a week, more than 5 hours a month.

And if you stop, your listings sink further down the results week after week, while those of sellers who relist move ahead. The cost of doing nothing rarely shows all at once: it shows in sales that slow down for no obvious reason.

If you sell 5 items a month, you don't need a tool: a few relists by hand on Sunday evening are enough. The maths changes from a few dozen listings.

Chaining delete, recreate and check for every listing is exactly the kind of repetitive task Revendor automates: it relists your items in the right order, at a pace you set.

How often should you relist?

There is no official frequency. A cautious baseline: relist an item when it has lost its freshness and hasn't found a buyer, typically after one to three weeks without favourites, spreading relists over several days.

Two good habits:

  • Spread it out: 10 listings every evening beat 70 on Sunday.
  • Prioritise: start with the oldest listings with no favourites. Keep the ones that have favourites and work on them with offers.

We go through paces for different wardrobe sizes in our guide on when to relist your items on Vinted.

What if the item still doesn't sell after relisting?

Then the problem is no longer freshness. A listing relisted three times without favourites has a deeper issue: price too high, an unappealing photo, a title that doesn't match what people type, or an item with little demand this season.

Run it through our checklist for listings that won't sell before a fourth attempt.

Frequently asked questions

Does relisting on Vinted push your item up?

Yes. A relisted item gets a new upload date, and Vinted takes that date into account when ranking the feed and search. The effect fades as new listings arrive.

Do you lose favourites when you delete a Vinted listing?

Yes. A new listing starts from zero, with no favourites or views. That is why it is better to send an offer to interested members before deleting a listing that has favourites.

Does editing a Vinted listing push it up?

Vinted doesn't document it. Many sellers find that it doesn't. Edit to fix a price, title or photo, but don't count on editing to gain visibility.

Can you have the same listing twice on Vinted?

No. The catalogue rules only allow one listing per item. If you have several identical units, create a single listing and state the quantity in the description.

Can relisting get your Vinted account blocked?

Relisting properly, by deleting the old listing first, follows the rules. Duplicates and unavailable items are what is prohibited, and repeated breaches can lead to a block. Keep a steady, reasonable pace.

Should you hide or delete a listing you want to relist?

Hiding lets you reactivate the same listing later, with its favourites, but Vinted doesn't say it gets a new date. Deleting and relisting gives a new date. Hide out-of-season items, relist those that have lost their freshness.
