Vinted vs Vestiaire Collective: where to sell your designer item

By Revendor6 min read

Vinted vs Vestiaire Collective? On Vinted, private sellers pay no commission: you receive the listed price. On Vestiaire Collective, the commission ranges from a flat €12 to 17%, plus a 3% payment fee. So Vinted wins on most items. Vestiaire Collective makes sense for expensive luxury pieces, when its audience and image reassure a demanding buyer.

What fees do Vinted and Vestiaire Collective charge sellers?

Vinted charges private sellers nothing. Vestiaire Collective takes a commission and a payment fee on every sale.

On Vinted, the buyer pays. According to Vinted's price list, they pay a Buyer Protection fee, "usually 5% + €0.70", plus postage. Private sellers receive the listed price. The buyer can also add an item verification service for €10.

On Vestiaire Collective, the fee structure for items listed since 9 June 2026 is as follows, according to Vestiaire Collective's help page on selling fees:

  • items under €75: a flat selling fee of €12;
  • from €75 to €15,000: 17% of the price;
  • above €15,000: a flat €2,500;
  • on top of that: a 3% payment processing fee, reduced to a flat €3 under €75.

The same page states that an item can't be listed for less than €16. Vestiaire Collective has changed its fees several times in recent years: check them when you list.

How much do you actually take home on each platform?

The sum is simple, and it speaks for itself. Here's what the seller receives at three selling prices, postage aside.

What a private seller takes home, fees as of September 2026

Selling priceNet on VintedVestiaire Collective feesNet on Vestiaire Collective
€40 (designer top)€40€12 + €3 = €15€25
€150 (designer jacket)€150€25.50 + €4.50 = €30€120
€600 (luxury bag)€600€102 + €18 = €120€480

On Vinted, the fees don't disappear: the buyer pays them. They add €2.70 to the price for the €40 item, €8.20 for the €150 one and €30.70 for the €600 bag.

Under €75, Vestiaire Collective takes €15 from every sale. On a €40 item, that's 37.5% of the price. For everyday pieces, nothing competes with Vinted on this point.

Above that, the gap is 20% of the price (17% + 3%). For Vestiaire Collective to be the better deal, you'd need to sell at least 25% higher there than on Vinted. Example: to take home €480 on a bag, you need to sell it for €600 on Vestiaire Collective, against €480 on Vinted.

Do items sell for more on Vestiaire Collective?

Sometimes, for luxury, but nobody publishes reliable figures on it. The argument is about the audience: buyers who come for designer brands and accept a higher price in exchange for a specialist platform. On an everyday item, that premium doesn't exist.

The safest test: search for your exact item (brand, model, size) on both platforms, look at prices on comparable listings, and do the sum with the table.

What difference does authentication make?

It's Vestiaire Collective's main selling point, and it's what reassures someone buying a €1,000 bag. Vestiaire Collective highlights its item checks and offers several shipping options (including sending directly to the buyer). The exact terms depend on the item and the shipping method: read your listing page before confirming.

On Vinted, authentication exists as an optional service paid for by the buyer (item verification for €10, according to the price list). It isn't automatic. So for a very expensive item, some buyers hesitate more, and that's where your own proof matters: receipt, authenticity card, photos of the serial number, inside label and stitching.

Do you need proof to sell luxury items on Vinted?

It isn't required to list, but it makes all the difference to selling. A designer bag listing with no receipt or detail photos attracts lowball offers and questions. With them, it reassures. Be careful with photos too: only use your own, as brand images cause problems, as explained in our article on photos rejected for copyright.

Which items should you sell on Vestiaire Collective?

Expensive luxury or designer pieces, in very good condition, with proof of purchase, when you're not in a hurry. For everything else, Vinted.

Choose the platform in 4 questions

  1. 1

    Is your item worth less than €75? Vinted. Vestiaire Collective's €15 in flat fees eat into your margin.

  2. 2

    Is it a sought-after luxury or designer brand? If not, Vinted.

  3. 3

    Can you prove authenticity (receipt, card, serial number)? If yes, both are possible. If not, Vestiaire Collective will reassure the buyer more, provided the item passes its checks.

  4. 4

    Is the going price on Vestiaire Collective more than 25% higher than on Vinted? If yes, list on Vestiaire Collective. If not, stay on Vinted.

Can you list on both at the same time?

Yes, but take the listing down on the other platform as soon as a sale comes in. A double sale forces you to cancel, and on an expensive item a disappointed buyer rarely leaves a good review.

Selling luxury on Vinted: how do you keep up?

If you choose Vinted to keep 100% of the price, you also keep all the work Vestiaire Collective would have handled: answering detailed questions, dealing with lowball offers, bumping the listing, tracking what each item earned you.

On a €600 item, €350 offers arrive fast, and every question left unanswered for a day drives away a serious buyer. With 30 or 40 designer items online, that becomes an hour of messages a day.

Revendor brings these messages into one place, applies your counter-offer tiers automatically and tracks the margin on each sale, so you keep Vinted's price advantage without spending your evenings on it.

What if you sell just one luxury item a year?

Then you don't need a tool. Do the sum from the table, list on the platform that comes out ahead, take good photos and reply quickly. If you sell professionally, also read our review of Vinted Pro, where the terms are different.
