Vinted Wardrobe Spotlight: price, how it works and is it worth it

By Revendor7 min read

Vinted Wardrobe Spotlight is a paid option that promotes a selection of your listings for 7 days in other members' feeds and search results. You need at least 5 items live, and its price depends on the number and value of your listings. It pays off for a consistent wardrobe, not for a few scattered pieces.

You will see exactly what it does, what it costs, which seller profiles it makes sense for, and how to check afterwards whether it earned you anything.

What is Wardrobe Spotlight on Vinted?

Wardrobe Spotlight is a service that promotes your whole wardrobe, whereas a Bump only promotes one item.

According to Vinted's help page on Wardrobe Spotlight:

  • It stays active for 7 consecutive days after purchase.
  • It shows up to 15 of your listings in other members' feeds and search results, taking their preferences into account.
  • You need at least 5 items live to use it.
  • You get access to statistics: how many people saw your listings and interacted with them during the Spotlight.

The key point is "taking their preferences into account". Vinted shows your listings to people whose sizes, brands and followed categories match. A very scattered wardrobe therefore has fewer relevant listings to show each buyer.

How much does Wardrobe Spotlight cost on Vinted?

The price isn't fixed. According to the help page, it depends on the number of listings you have and their value. Vinted's price list states that the amount is shown to you at checkout.

Sellers quote a few euros a week on forums, but these figures vary from one wardrobe to another and over time. The only reliable figure is the one Vinted shows you before you confirm. Note it: it is the one that goes into the calculation below.

Wardrobe Spotlight or Bump: what is the difference?

A Bump pushes one specific item; Wardrobe Spotlight pushes your wardrobe. The right choice depends on what you sell.

Which sellers does Wardrobe Spotlight pay off for?

It is justified when three conditions are met: a consistent wardrobe, a decent average margin, and the ability to reply quickly during the week.

Profile 1: the specialist wardrobe. You mainly sell one category (women's clothing in sizes 8 to 10, vintage sportswear, baby clothes). A buyer who sees one listing finds other pieces for them by clicking through to your profile. This is where Wardrobe Spotlight makes the most sense.

Profile 2: the regular seller with 30 or more items. The more relevant listings you have, the better the selection shown. With 5 or 6 unrelated items, you are paying to show very little.

Profile 3: the occasional seller clearing out their wardrobe. A few pieces in various sizes and styles, low prices. Wardrobe Spotlight is unlikely to pay off. Better to work on titles and photos.

3 times

According to Vinted's help centre, members who follow you are 3 times more likely than others to buy one of your items. A Spotlight that brings you followers therefore has an effect beyond its 7 days.

How do you work out whether Wardrobe Spotlight is worth it for you?

Compare the price shown with the margin you make on an average sale. If a single extra sale during the week comfortably covers the price, the bet is reasonable.

The threshold formula:

Extra sales needed = Spotlight price ÷ average margin per sale

Example, with illustrative figures. Your wardrobe has 40 women's clothing items, with an average margin of €12 per sale. Vinted shows you a Spotlight price of, say, €6 for the example. The threshold is 6 ÷ 12 = 0.5 sales. In other words, one extra sale in the week is enough to make money.

Same calculation for someone selling €4 items with a €2 margin: 6 ÷ 2 = 3 extra sales, due to the Spotlight alone. That is much harder to achieve.

The catch is "extra". You might have sold some of those items without the Spotlight. To measure it, compare with your usual week.

Measure the effect of a Wardrobe Spotlight

  1. 1

Note your sales, views and favourites for the previous two weeks, to get your weekly average.

  2. 2

Start the Spotlight on a day when you are available to reply, ideally early in the week so it covers a weekend.

  3. 3

For 7 days, change nothing else: no Bumps, no big price changes.

  4. 4

At the end, compare sales, favourites and new followers with your average.

  5. 5

Also look at the Spotlight statistics in your profile.

  6. 6

If the margin gained exceeds the price paid, renew. If not, work on your wardrobe first.

What makes a Wardrobe Spotlight effective?

A Spotlight brings visitors to your listings. What they see next decides the sale.

  • Consistent photos: same background, same light. The wardrobe looks professional and makes people want to scroll.
  • Complete titles: brand, type, size, colour. Our guide to writing a good title goes through the formula.
  • Bundle discounts turned on: a visitor who finds two pieces has a reason to take a third.
  • Fresh listings: a Spotlight showing items posted six months ago makes the wardrobe look abandoned.

That last point is often overlooked. If half your wardrobe was listed long ago and never refreshed, you are paying to show listings that have lost their freshness, a criterion Vinted takes into account in its ranking.

The cost of doing nothing is simple to count. You pay for a Spotlight every month without refreshing your wardrobe: over a year, that is twelve payments to promote listings that buyers may already have seen and ignored.

Keeping a wardrobe fresh before and during a Spotlight means reposting regularly, which becomes time-consuming beyond a few dozen listings. Revendor handles it automatically, at the pace you choose.

When should you not buy Wardrobe Spotlight?

Keep your money in these situations:

  • Fewer than 10 items, or items with nothing in common.
  • A busy week when you won't be able to reply to messages in the evening: the interest generated fades if nobody replies.
  • An out-of-season wardrobe: showing swimwear in November doesn't bring in much.
  • A recently restricted account: sort that out first. Our guide on blocked or restricted accounts explains what to check.

If you sell 5 items a month, you probably don't need Wardrobe Spotlight. A well-presented, regularly refreshed wardrobe will do most of the work.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Wardrobe Spotlight cost on Vinted?

Its price depends on the number and value of your listings, according to Vinted's help centre. The exact amount is shown before payment. Compare it with your average margin per sale to decide.

How long does Vinted Wardrobe Spotlight last?

Seven consecutive days from purchase. During that time, up to 15 of your listings appear in other members' feeds and search results.

How many items do you need for Vinted Wardrobe Spotlight?

At least 5 items live. In practice, it becomes more worthwhile with a larger, consistent wardrobe, because Vinted shows your listings according to buyers' preferences.

Is Vinted Wardrobe Spotlight worth it?

It is if one or two extra sales in the week cover its price. That is often the case for a specialist wardrobe with a decent margin, rarely for a few low-priced items.

Can you see the results of a Wardrobe Spotlight?

Yes. Vinted gives you access to statistics from your profile: how many people saw your listings and interacted with them during the Spotlight. Compare them with a normal week.

Is Wardrobe Spotlight better than several Bumps?

For an expensive piece with favourites, a targeted Bump. For a consistent wardrobe where buyers can find several items, Wardrobe Spotlight. They don't meet the same need.
