Vinted Holiday Mode: What It Does and How to Come Back Strong

By Revendor6 min read

Vinted holiday mode hides all your listings at once, for up to 90 days. Nobody can buy your items while it's on, and you can switch it off at any time to put everything back online. It doesn't extend paid features like Bumps or Wardrobe Spotlight. It's a pause, not a deletion.

You'll know when to turn it on, what it doesn't do, and how to restart your shop when you get back without losing two weeks of sales.

What exactly does holiday mode do on Vinted?

It hides all your listings in one go. According to Vinted's help page, you can turn it on or off whenever you like, for a maximum of 90 days.

A hidden listing no longer appears in the feed, the catalogue or your listings page, as the help page on hiding listings explains. Your listings aren't deleted: when you come back, they reappear.

90 days

The maximum time holiday mode can hide your listings, according to Vinted's help page on using holiday mode.

What holiday mode doesn't do

  • It doesn't extend your paid features. A Bump or Wardrobe Spotlight you've paid for keeps running during the pause, and Vinted's help says so in black and white. Don't start a Bump the day before you leave.
  • It doesn't handle orders already placed. A sale made before you turned it on still needs shipping. Check there are no pending orders before you go.
  • It doesn't answer messages for you. Vinted's help doesn't say what happens with messages during the pause. Assume buyers can still write to you.

Does holiday mode make you lose visibility on Vinted?

Nobody can say for sure, because Vinted doesn't publish how its ranking works. You need to separate what's certain from what's anecdotal.

What's certain: during the pause, you get zero views and zero sales. That's what hiding means.

What's observed: many sellers say their listings are slow to pick up again when they return. The most likely explanation is nothing mysterious. Buyers mainly see recent listings in their feed, and a listing that was hidden and then shown again isn't a new listing: it most likely doesn't count as new again.

In other words, holiday mode probably doesn't "penalise" you. It simply means you come back with stock that has aged two or three weeks without selling.

What does a break actually cost?

Example: you sell 25 items a month on average, with €15 profit per item. Two weeks of holiday mode means around a dozen sales that don't happen, or roughly €180 in profit. If your restart takes an extra week, add another €60 or so.

That's no reason not to go away. But it helps you choose between pausing the whole shop and a lighter alternative.

Should you turn on holiday mode or not?

Yes if you won't be able to ship. No if you can handle a few parcels, or if someone can do it for you. The table below helps you decide.

Holiday mode or an alternative, depending on your situation

SituationBest optionWhy
Away for more than 3 days, nobody to shipHoliday modeAvoids sales you couldn't send in time

Someone close can drop off parcelsStay online, stock preparedNo break in sales

Can you hide only some of your listings?

Yes, you can hide listings one by one without using holiday mode. That's useful if you're away and some items are out of reach (stored elsewhere, lent out, being altered) and you want to keep selling the rest, for example if someone ships for you.

How to get ready before turning on holiday mode

Prepare a clean break in 20 minutes

  1. 1

Check that no orders are waiting to be shipped.

  2. 2

Reply to open conversations, letting people know when you'll be back.

  3. 3

Don't buy a Bump or Wardrobe Spotlight in the days before.

  4. 4

Note your views and favourites for the week, to compare when you're back.

  5. 5

List your oldest listings, which you'll push first on your return.

  6. 6

Turn on holiday mode in your settings.

  7. 7

Set a reminder for your return date, before the 90-day limit.

How to boost your Vinted sales after holiday mode

By making your stock feel fresh again, not just by switching the mode off. Switching it off makes your listings visible, but they're the same listings as before you left.

Three actions, in this order:

  1. Turn off holiday mode and check that your listings are visible on your profile again.
  2. Relist your oldest listings first. Many sellers find that a fresh listing gets more views. Our article on when to relist your Vinted items explains how to do it without losing your favourites.
  3. Add a few new items in the first few days, so your profile shows recent activity.

The problem is volume. Relisting 150 listings one by one after a holiday takes a whole day, just when you've got a suitcase to unpack and late parcels to deal with. Revendor runs that reposting in the background, in small staggered waves, so your shop restarts without you spending your day on it.

Can you sell on Vinted while on holiday without holiday mode?

Yes, if you get organised. Holiday mode isn't compulsory; it's there to avoid sales you couldn't fulfil. If you can ship, you don't need it.

A few options that work:

  • Take a selection with you. A few light pieces, easy to send from a drop-off point where you're staying. Hide the rest.
  • Hand over the shipping. Someone close with a spare key, a "to ship" box ready to go, reference codes on each bag. You handle messages and labels from your phone.
  • Say so on your profile. A line like "Parcels sent Monday to Friday" heads off impatient messages.

If you're often away, a 20-minute daily routine is easier to hand over or run remotely than managing things as they come.

Can holiday mode cause problems with your account?

No, it's an official feature designed for exactly this. What can cause problems is leaving with unshipped orders or unanswered messages. A buyer who doesn't receive their item can open a case, and repeated cases count against your account. If you've already had trouble there, our guide to a blocked or restricted Vinted account covers it.
